I thought of you as I wandered around Lewes, UK (pronouced Lewis). Lots of brick here. I came across a building that used mathematical tiles. I know this because a fellow told me as I took a photo of the house. I hadn't heard of them before. Perhaps you have. They came out in the 1800's.
