#271

#271, Tribeca, NYC

If M.C. Escher collected sea shells, he might have arranged them like this. A gorgeous bit of decorative art over the door of Franklin Towers, a building designed in the first half of the last century by Cross & Cross architects.

I've never met a seashell collector I liked. I'm glad FLW wasn't one. Although he probably wasn't very likable anyway, come to think of it.

Ray - I am very curious about your seashell collector distaste.

Jackie - I hear she sells them at the seashore.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

I admit my evidence is hardly overwhelming for the character deficiencies in seashell collectors, but I offer the following data set:

1) The popular girls with whom I was friends and who later turned on me in junior high: seashell collectors
2) The prune-mouthed, boring wives or girlfriends of some of my male friends: seashell collectors
3) Many sorority members: seashell collectors
4) Tons of people who are overzealous, creepy scrapbookers: seashell collectors

Q.E.D.?

I suppose this would be a bad time to tell you about my detailed conch shell curio cabinet.
