#303

#303, Upper East Side, NYC

Because hand lettering, like dying, is an art, and because I adore making inappropriate Sylvia Plath references the site, I'm linking over today to The Journal of Urban Typography , where hand lettering is not just an art, but a delicious and messy smorgasbord of all things typographical. Go on. Sample a little. It's Friday.

I enjoy reading inappropriate Sylvia Plath references.

I'm a little rusty, Jac. Too busy making obscure Juliana Hatfield references, no doubt.

Never heard of Sylvia Plath. Just read Lady Lazarus. Wow.

I like this:
Dying
Is an art, like everything else.
I do it exceptionally well.
I do it so it feels like hell.
I do it so it feels real.
I guess you could say I've a call

And this:
For the eyeing of my scars, there is a charge
For the hearing of my heart----
It really goes.
And there is a charge, a very large charge,
For a word or a touch
Or a bit of blood

Pierre, you should totally check out my fellow blogger Sheila's excellent post on Plath: http://www.sheilaomalley.com/archives/011435.html

A great introduction to her work!

Talk about being obsessive. I cannot cope with the lettering through the mortar. My shoulders creep.
